LEGAL
Terms & Conditions
The terms behind every quote we send. Plain where possible, precise where it matters.
These terms govern bookings made with myCHEF Cape Town for private chef, catering and related services in Cape Town and the Cape Winelands. The South African legal entity details for myCHEF Cape Town publish here once confirmed; until then, your written quote identifies the contracting party.
1. Scope and parties
These terms govern bookings made with myCHEF Cape Town for private chef, catering and related services in Cape Town and the Cape Winelands. The South African legal entity details for myCHEF Cape Town publish here once confirmed; until then, your written quote identifies the contracting party.
A booking is formed when you approve the written itemised quote and pay the deposit described on it.
2. Quotes and pricing
Every booking is priced by a fixed itemised quote listing menu, staffing, estimated groceries, rentals, travel zone, VAT treatment and any applicable festive multiplier. Prices include VAT where stated. Once approved and secured by deposit, the quoted price is fixed; the only line that settles at actuals is groceries, billed at cost with receipts.
Festive multipliers are published: public holidays carry a 1.5× multiplier, and 25 December, 31 December and 1 January carry a 2× multiplier. Multipliers appear as their own line on your quote.
3. Deposits and payment
A 50% deposit locks the date. Weddings follow a 50/25/25 ladder: 50% on booking, 25% at 20 days before the event, and 25% at 10 days before. Balances are settled against the final invoice with grocery receipts attached.
4. Cancellation and changes
Client cancellations follow the published tiers: full refund 14 or more days before the event; 50% refund at 7–13 days; no refund under 7 days. For events in the festive super-peak window (26 December to 7 January), the deposit is non-refundable, and this is stated on the quote before payment.
If we cancel or your chef cannot cook and cannot be replaced, the chef replacement-or-refund guarantee applies: a replacement within 24 hours or a full refund plus a documented credit, as published on the booking-protection page.
5. Event-day responsibilities
You provide kitchen basics (hob, oven, counter space, running water), access and accurate guest numbers. We provide the named chef and staff on your quote, shopping, cooking, service and cleanup, and we plan around notified load-shedding windows. Changes to guest count or scope are re-quoted in writing before they take effect.
6. Liability and governing law
We are liable for losses caused by our proven breach or negligence, and our aggregate liability is limited to the amount paid for the event, except where South African law provides otherwise. Dietary and allergy information is handled with strict protocols agreed in writing, but private kitchens cannot guarantee zero cross-contact.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
