The super-peak, staffed properly

A festive-season villa chef covers your Cape Town villa across the super-peak window, 26 December to 7 January: Christmas lunch, New Year's Eve canapés, recovery braais and the quiet family days in between. Standard day rates apply, with the published multipliers — 1.5× on public holidays and 2× on 25 and 31 December and 1 January.

Ke Dezemba in Cape Town is not a normal fortnight. Restaurants are full, fishmongers sell out by nine, and every villa on the Atlantic Seaboard is occupied. A chef booked for the window removes the two hardest problems of a festive holiday: feeding a full house, and doing it well on the days that matter.

The window is also when the villa itself earns its keep. Long lunches on the terrace, late braais, children drifting in and out — none of it works if someone in the family is stuck cooking for fifteen people every night.

Festive rates, on the table

These are the standard villa rates. Public holidays carry a 1.5× multiplier; 25 and 31 December and 1 January carry 2×. The multipliers are published on our rate card and appear as named lines on your quote — never buried in a total.

A festive week, plated

A typical super-peak week, built around your family in the pre-arrival consult. Kreef only when licensed and in season; the Christmas table is planned down to the crackers if you want it to be.

  1. 01Christmas lunch: whole roasted linefish, glazed gammon, summer salads
  2. 02Boxing Day: cold spreads, mosbolletjie, leftovers done properly
  3. 03New Year's Eve: canapés at sunset, a late seated course, MCC at midnight
  4. 04New Year's Day: recovery braai — snoek, lamb chops, mielies
  5. 05The days between: terrace breakfasts, pool lunches, one slow seafood afternoon

Booking window and honest capacity

Festive weeks typically commit by early spring, and the window closes completely by November most years. That is not a marketing line: a small team covers a fixed number of festive tables, and dates are allocated first confirmed, first served.

If your dates are already taken, we say so and offer the shoulders — the week before Christmas and the days after 7 January book more easily and run at standard rates.

The pre-arrival consult happens on WhatsApp weeks before you land: dietary maps, the Christmas table plan, which nights are braais, where the wine comes from. By the time you arrive, the first shop is done and the fridge is full.

What the kitchen needs in December

A working hob and oven, counter space and running water — the same as any villa booking. December adds two practical notes: load-shedding windows are planned around with gas, braai and induction backup, and the big shops happen early in the day because the fishmongers and markets sell out fast over Ke Dezemba.

If your villa is in Zone 3 — Franschhoek and beyond — staff accommodation applies to finishes after 22:00 and appears as a quoted line item. Zone 1 villas carry no travel fee at all.

Festive terms, in plain language

Super-peak terms are stricter than the rest of the year, and they are published in full on our booking protection page. The short version:

Included

  • same-chef continuity across your whole window
  • pre-arrival consult and festive menu plan
  • published multipliers itemised on the quote

Quoted separately

  • staff accommodation for finishes after 22:00
  • a refundable super-peak deposit — it is non-refundable
  • date changes inside the window once confirmed

Why we publish the multipliers

Two times on 25 and 31 December and 1 January is real money, and you deserve to see it before you fall in love with the menu. Festive pricing that only appears on an invoice is how this industry earns its reputation. Ours is on the rate card, all year.
